दिल परेशान हुआ जाता है और सामान हुआ जाता है

ख़िदमत-ए-पीर-ए-मुग़ाँ कर ज़ाहिद तू अब इंसान हुआ जाता है
Go serve the master of the tavern, O ascetic—for now, at last, you are becoming human.

मौत से पहले मुझे क़त्ल करो उस का एहसान हुआ जाता है
Slay me yourself before death arrives; its debt of favor weighs too heavy upon me.

लज़्ज़त-ए-इश्क़ इलाही मिट जाए दर्द अरमान हुआ जाता है
May this sweet savor of love, O God, be erased and cease; for agony itself is turning into a cherished longing.
O God, may the pleasure of love be erased, because the pain itself is turning into a cherished longing.

दम ज़रा लो कि मिरा दम तुम पर अभी क़ुर्बान हुआ जाता है
Catch your breath for just a moment, for my very life is on the verge of being sacrificed for you.

गिर्या क्या ज़ब्त करूँ ऐ नासेह अश्क पैमान हुआ जाता है
How can I restrain my weeping, O counselor, when each tear overflows its measure?

बेवफ़ाई से भी रफ़्ता रफ़्ता वो मिरी जान हुआ जाता है
Even through faithlessness, little by little, that beloved becomes my very life.

अर्सा-ए-हश्र में वो आ पहुँचे साफ़ मैदान हुआ जाता है
Into the grounds of Judgment Day, they have arrived at last; Behold, the crowded field is cleared, all others scattered fast.

मदद ऐ हिम्मत-ए-दुश्वार-पसंद काम आसान हुआ जाता है
Come to my aid, O ambition that delights in hardship—for my arduous task is turning far too easy.

छाई जाती है ये वहशत कैसी घर बयाबान हुआ जाता है
What wild desolation is this that casts its shadow, as my very home turns into a barren wilderness.

शिकवा सुन आँख मिला कर ज़ालिम क्यूँ पशेमान हुआ जाता है
Hear my reproach and meet my gaze, O cruel one; why must you be overcome with such remorse?

आतिश-ए-शौक़ बुझी जाती है ख़ाक अरमान हुआ जाता है
The fire of passion is dying out, every yearning turns to dust.

उज़्र जाने में न कर ऐ क़ासिद तू भी नादान हुआ जाता है
Make no excuse to go, O messenger; have you, too, grown so naive?

मुज़्तरिब क्यूँ न हों अरमाँ दिल में क़ैद मेहमान हुआ जाता है
