Ghazal

आ गया फिर रमज़ाँ क्या होगा

Nazm Tabatabai· Ghazal· 11 shers· radif: क्या होगा

In this playfully wistful ghazal, the poet laments the arrival of Ramadan, dreading separation from the tavern and wine. Contrasting ascetic piety with earthly love, he boldly asserts that even paradise holds no allure without the beloved.

The way my heart tore into pieces all on its own; could even finest linen ever be rent asunder so?
Just as my heart was torn into pieces all on its own, could even fine linen cloth ever be torn in such a manner?
