Ghazal
Phir Us Se Tarah Kuch Jo Dawe Ki Si Daali Hai
The poem suggests that one should not expect anything from someone that is merely superficial or a claim. To find something truly fresh or genuine in life, one has had to make certain arrangements or preparations. Ultimately, the verses conclude that a sincere, empty feeling is more valuable than external praise or embrace.

Like that, some who claim to have given a branch,
Has any fresh flower now sprouted a shoot?
The couplet questions if any fresh flower has sprouted a shoot, similar to those who previously made claims. It implies that the claims made before are not being matched by any new developments.

If I ask you truthfully, when will that beautiful, glowing blossom appear?
For the sake of the picture, we have made a promise/plan.
If I ask you truthfully, when will that beautiful, glowing blossom appear? For the sake of the picture, we have made a promise/plan.

Do not ask anything of the body, for it is a form of Bharat's design;
What can be said of the figure, when it has been cast in a mold?
Do not ask anything of the body, for it is a form of Bharat's design; what can be said of the figure, when it has been cast in a mold?

We were embraced by the flow of praise, but the embrace from you is empty of use.
We were embraced by the flow of praise, but the embrace coming from you is useless.

No sign of respect is ever seen, / If you stay silent, you're watched, but if you speak, it's abuse.
It means that there is no sign of respect visible; if you remain silent, you are watched, but if you speak, it is like abuse.

The world was enchanted by his walk, just moving through two villages, / Some divine grace gives him such a unique gait.
The entire atmosphere was mesmerized by his walk, merely moving through two villages, / There is something unique about his gait, given by divine grace.

If she is destined, then this suffering of the lover is a calamity;
Has even the master of intoxication raised a young girl?

In the dust of the blood-soaked earth, how much are we to you?
When will you bring forth the courage that is my dear sister?
In the dust of the blood-soaked earth, how much are we to you? When will you bring forth the courage, my dear sister? (Literal meaning: The speaker questions their own worth in the bloody ground, and then asks his sister when she will bring forth the required courage.)

When such love blooms high, let others be the ones to feel it,
This curse, I have averted it from my head, Oh Farhad.
When love has such a high intensity, let others be the ones to experience it. I have averted this trouble/curse from my head, O Farhad.

Among these deceivers, do not come again, O ascetic,
For I have already saved your handkerchief.
Among these deceivers, do not come again, O ascetic, for I have already saved your handkerchief.

O Mir, do you weep for the mischief of your heart,
Those boys have raised up Delhi upon their heads.
O Mir, do you weep only for the mischief of your heart, when those boys have completely stirred up Delhi?
