Ghazal
This ghazal reflects on the helplessness of unrequited love and the inevitability of emotional despair. It carries a poignant, melancholic tone, observing that while a physical illness can be cured, there is no remedy for a lover's unwilling heart or a spirit resigned to heartbreak.

One longs that someone should remain true; but if the heart is unwilling, what can one do?
There is a desire that someone would remain faithful, but if their heart itself does not wish to, what can anyone do?

We do not claim to be the Most Merciful God; why then should anyone make a mistake or commit an offense against us?
10

Where the celestial maidens are eons old, what is anyone to do with such a paradise?
What would anyone do with such a paradise where the celestial maidens are millions of years old?
11
Despite such cruelty, you still cherish the desire, that someone should come forward to plead with me on your behalf.
Even after inflicting such cruelty, you still desire that someone should plead with you on my behalf.
12
The moment he was favored, 'Dagh' grew proud and vain; what delight it would be now, if someone treated him with cruelty again.
The moment Dagh received a little favor or attention, he became conceited; it would truly be enjoyable now if someone were to treat him with cruelty again.
