કારણ મને ગમે છે

The verses

1. કાજળભર્યાં નયનનાં કામણ મને ગમે છે, કારણ નહીં જ આપું, કારણ, મને ગમે છે.

   Meaning: The magic of kohl-filled eyes, I like, A reason I will not give, for I like it.

2. લજ્જા થકી નમેલી પાંપણ મને ગમે છે, ભાવે છે ભાર મનને ભારણ મને ગમે છે.

   Meaning: I like the eyelashes lowered with shyness, The burden that weighs upon the mind, I like that burden.

3. ભેટ્યો છું મોતને પણ કંઈ વાર જિંદગીમાં, આ ખોળિયાની જેમ જ ખાંપણ મને ગમે છે.

   Meaning: I have embraced death many times in life,Just like this body, I also like the shroud.

4. ‘ઘાયલ' મને મુબારક આ ઊર્મિકાવ્ય મારાં, મેં રોઈને ભર્યાં છે એ રણ મને ગમે છે.

   Meaning: O 'Ghayal', blessed are these lyrical poems of mine to me, I have filled those deserts with tears, and those deserts I now love.
