The verses

1. કંઈ તો છે કે જેથી ઊંચોનીચો થાય છે દરિયો; મને તો આપણી જેમ જ દુઃખી દેખાય છે દરિયો.

   Meaning: Something causes the ocean to rise and fall;To me, the ocean appears as sad as we are.

2. ખબર સુધ્ધાં નથી એને, ભીતર શી આગ સળગે છે! નીતરતી ચાંદનીમાં બેફિકર થઈ, ન્હાય છે દરિયો.

   Meaning: It doesn't even know, what fire burns within! The sea, carefree, bathes in the flowing moonlight.

3. બડો ચબરાક છે, સંગ એમનો કરવો નથી સારો, નદી જેવી નદીને પણ ભગાડી જાય છે દરિયો!

   Meaning: He is very cunning, their company is not good to keep, Even a river, mighty as it is, the ocean sweeps away!

4. ગમે ત્યારે જુઓ ‘ઘાયલ’ ઘૂઘવતો હોય છે આમ જ, દિવસના શું? ઘડી રાતેય ના ઘોંટાય છે દરિયો!

   Meaning: Whenever you look, 'Ghayal' is surging just like this,What of the day? Even for a moment at night, the ocean cannot be silenced!
