Ghazal
अपने पहलू से वो ग़ैरों को उठा ही न सके
This ghazal captures the pain of unexpressed sorrow and the estrangement caused by a beloved who remains surrounded by others. It reflects the poet's helplessness in sharing their heartache, set against the paradox of an elusive beloved whose essence exceeds the vastest bounds of human contemplation.

They could not bring themselves to dismiss rivals from their side; nor could we ever recount our sorrow's tale to them.
They could not make rivals move away from their side, and we could never tell them the tale of our sorrow.

O Akbar, every single thing is a manifestation of the Beloved's radiance, so an irreverent eye cannot dare to look in any direction.

Far better than such logic is sheer madness, Akbar, that cannot even bow the heart toward its Creator.
Akbar says that sheer madness is far better than such logic or intellect that cannot even incline one's heart toward the Creator.
