Ghazal
Kash Uthim Ham Bhi Gunahgaron Ke Bich
This ghazal expresses a deep sense of longing and a strange attraction, where the poet wishes to be among the 'sinners.' He desires to live among those who are recipients of mercy (or those enduring hardships). The poem questions the instability of life and the art of wearing masks, observing the ironies of existence between hidden truths and superficial appearances.

If only I too could awaken among the sinners,
I am, who am among those punished by mercy.
It means, 'If only I too could awaken among the sinners, for I am one among those who receive the punishment of mercy.'

My life has always resided in the presence of those brave hearts, amidst the swords of comrades.
The Shayar says that his life has always resided in the presence of those brave hearts, amidst the swords of his comrades.

If a glass is a mirror shop, this age
Shows faces trapped among the walls.
If a glass is a mirror shop, this age shows faces trapped among the walls.

What are the deceptions of Anasir's countenance? What are the verses among those four?
What are the deceptions of Anasir's countenance? What are the verses among those four?

Since you have taken out this treasure of beauty,
It has spread through the bazaars like smoke.
Since you have revealed this treasure of beauty, it has created a stir in the bazaars.

Of love, of being alone, of friendship,
When will one live amidst such sorrows?
Of love, of solitude, and friendship—when can one live amidst such sorrows?

What brightness is that, which shines not in that month's full light,
What sparkle is that, amidst the stars, that does not gleam?
What brightness is that, which does not shine without the full light of that month, and what sparkle is that, amidst the stars, that does not gleam?

Without his fiery countenance,
How long can you wander amidst the embers?
Without his fiery countenance, how long can you wander amidst the embers?

When is it for me to sit among strangers, exposed like a beloved? / Flowers and blossoms are always among thorns.
When is it for me to sit among strangers, exposed like a beloved? / Flowers and blossoms are always among thorns. (Meaning: When can I be vulnerable/exposed in the company of others, because flowers and blossoms are always found amidst thorns.)

O friends, do not consume the deceit of that love; even 'Mir' was among those very friends.
O friends, do not fall for the deceit of that love; even the Shayar 'Mir' was among those very friends.
