Ghazal
This ghazal poignantly portrays the profound agony of separation and noble sacrifice in love, likening the lover's devotion to the legendary passion of Qais. It captures a melancholic descent under the weight of loneliness, where suffering and perceived flaws are embraced with artistic grace.

Like the famed Qais, we became martyrs to the cause of love; in this world, even our flaws we practiced like an art.
We were martyred in love just like the famous Qais (Majnun), and in this world, we practiced even our flaws like an art.

kuchh aaj shaam se chehra hai faq sahar kī tarah
Dhalā hī jaatā huuñ furqat meñ dopahar kī tarah

ki chaar phuul to dāman meñ hoñ sipar kī tarah

tamām ḳhalq hai ḳhvāhān-e-ābrū ai rab
chhupā mujhe sadaf-e-qabr meñ guhar kī tarah
5
tujhī ko dekhūñgā jab tak haiñ barqarār āñkheñ
mirī nazar na phiregī tirī nazar kī tarah
6
hamārī qabr pe kyā ehtiyāj-e-ambar-o-ūd
sulag rahā hai har ik ustuḳhvāñ agar kī tarah

nahīf-o-zār haiñ kyā zor bāġhbāñ se chale
jahāñ biThā diyā bas rah ga.e shajar kī tarah
8
tumhāre halqa-ba-goshoñ meñ ek ham bhī haiñ
paḌā rahe ye suḳhan kaan meñ guhar kī tarah
9
'anīs' yuuñ huā hāl-e-javānī-o-pīri
baḌhe the naḳhl kī sūrat gire samar kī tarah
