प्रभु जी तुम दर्शन बिन मोय घड़ी चैन नहीं आवड़े।।टेक।।
My Lord, without your sight, not a moment's peace I find.
My Lord, without your sight, I do not find peace even for a moment.

अन्न नहीं भावे नींद न आवे विरह सतावे मोय।
No food I crave, no sleep I find, separation tortures my mind.
Food is not appealing to me, sleep does not come, and separation torments me.

घायल ज्यूं घूमूं खड़ी रे म्हारो दर्द न जाने कोय।।1।।
Wounded, I wander standing, oh, my pain, no one knows.

दिन तो खाय गमायो री, रैन गमाई सोय।
The day I wasted eating, dear, the night I lost in sleep.
I wasted the day eating, and lost the night in sleep.

प्राण गंवाया झूरता रे, नैन गंवाया दोनु रोय।।2।।
My life was wasted, lamenting, oh, both my eyes were lost, crying so.
My life was wasted in lamenting, and crying incessantly, I lost both my eyes.

जो मैं ऐसा जानती रे, प्रीत कियाँ दुख होय।
If I had known that love brings sorrow,
If I had known beforehand that engaging in love would only result in sorrow, I would never have fallen in love.

नगर ढुंढेरौ पीटती रे, प्रीत न करियो कोय।।3।।
Searching through towns, beating the drum, love must not be done by anyone. (Couplet 3)
