Meera Bai
Radio style
Meera Bai's compositions are primarily devotional songs (bhajans and padas) dedicated to Lord Krishna. Her celebrated works include "Payo Ji Mhe To Ram Ratan Dhan Payo," "Pag Ghunghru Bandh Meera Naachi Re," and "Hari Tum Haro Jan Ki Bhir." These timeless pieces are cherished for their profound spiritual depth and emotional resonance.
Meera Bai's poetic style is marked by its simplicity, directness, and intense emotional expression, often using metaphors from daily life. Her language, primarily Braj Bhasha, Rajasthani, and Gujarati, made her poetry accessible to common people. She was deeply influenced by the Bhakti tradition, emphasizing personal devotion over ritualistic worship.
Meera Bai is revered as one of India's most significant poet-saints, whose legacy transcends centuries. Her bhajans are an integral part of Indian spiritual and musical heritage, sung and celebrated across the subcontinent.
