Blessed be the memory, whenever into my thoughts they strode; a surging river of verse, youth, and beauty freely flowed.
Bless their memory, whenever they entered my imagination, a river of poetry, youth, and beauty surged forth.

When love arrived at its true and primal core, it turned to beauty itself and held both realms in thrall.
When love reached its true center, it became beauty itself and reigned over both worlds.

The secret of the heart was somehow grasped by the heart alone; neither could they put it into words, nor could we make it known.
The secret that lay in the heart was somehow understood by the heart alone; neither were they able to express it, nor could we bring ourselves to say it.

The counselor laughed away this tale of mine; how shrewd of him to neatly dodge this side.
The counselor laughed away my story; he was clever enough to neatly avoid this aspect altogether.

People of the heart fashion their own era; we are not among those whom the times have molded.
People of the heart create their own era themselves; we are not among those who are molded or shaped by the times.

The heart became a searching gaze, the gaze became a tongue; today, a silence born of longing has wrought utter ruin like doomsday.
The heart turned into eyes and the eyes became speech; today, a silence born of longing has wrought utter havoc like doomsday.

The triumph of my verse, O Jigar, is simply this: they held sway over me, and I held sway over the world.
O Jigar, the sole triumph of my poetry is simply that my beloved overwhelmed me, and I overwhelmed the entire world.
