જીવનભરનાં તોફાન ખાળી રહ્યો છું, ફક્ત એના મોઘમ ઇશારે ઇશારે.
Meaning: All the storms of a lifetime, I restrain, Just by her subtle hints, again and again.
બધીયે મજાઓ હતી રાતે રાતે, ને સંતાપ એનો સવારે સવારે.
Meaning: All the pleasures were had, night after night,And its sorrow came, morning after morning.
મરણ કે જીવન હો એ બંને સ્થિતિમાં, ‘મરીઝ' એક લાચારી કાયમ રહી છે.
Meaning: In death or life, in both these states, 'Mareez', a constant helplessness perpetuates.
જનાજો જશે તો જશે કાંધે કાંધે, જીવન પણ ગયું છે સહારે સહારે.
Meaning: The bier will be borne from shoulder to shoulder, and so it goes,Life too has passed, relying on support as it flows.
