राह-ए-मज़मून-ए-ताज़ा बंद नहीं ता-क़यामत खुला है बाब-ए-सुख़न
The path to fresh themes is never closed; open until Judgment Day is the portal of verse.
The path to new and original subjects is never closed, and the door of poetry remains open until the Day of Judgment.

जल्वा-पैरा हो शाहिद-ए-मा'नी जब ज़बाँ सूँ उठे नक़ाब-ए-सुख़न
May the beloved of inner meaning reveal her splendor, when from the tongue is lifted the veil of speech.

गौहर उस की नज़र में जा न करे जिन ने देखा है आब-ओ-ताब-ए-सुख़न

हर्जा़-गोयाँ की बात क्यूँकि सुने जो सुना नग़्मा-ए-रबाब-ए-सुख़न

है तिरी बात ऐ नज़ाकत-ए-फ़हम लौह-ए-दीबाचा-ए-किताब-ए-सुख़न
O delicacy of perception, your spoken word is indeed the inscribed frontispiece to the book of eloquence.
O you who understand subtlety, your speech is the inscribed frontispiece and preface to the book of eloquence.

है सुख़न जग मनीं अदीम-उल-मिसाल जुज़ सुख़न नीं दुजा जवाब-ए-सुख़न
Within this world, the art of verse is peerless and profound; save speech itself, no match for speech could ever yet be found.
In this world, speech (or poetry) is peerless, and except for speech itself, there is no other match or answer to speech.

ऐ 'वली' दर्द-ए-सर कभू न रहे जब मिले सन्दल-ओ-गुलाब-ए-सुख़न
O Vali, never shall any headache remain, / Once soothed by the rosewater and sandalwood of verse.
O Vali, a headache will never remain once the sandalwood and rosewater of poetry are applied.
