Ghazal
gar kaun-o-makaan mazhar-e-nairang na hota
This ghazal explores the mystical and philosophical nature of the universe as an ever-shifting manifestation of divine wonder. Confronted by the ceaseless marvels and transformative spectacle of existence, the poet is enveloped in a profound sense of awe and existential bewilderment.

Were the cosmos not a canvas of wondrous illusion, each fleeting moment would not unveil His ever-new expression.
If the universe were not a manifestation of wondrous diversity, His ever-new style and form would not be seen at every moment.
2
Had there not been sheer bewilderment in the spectacle of that vision, I would not stand dumbstruck in wonder, motionless like a mirror.
If there were no bewilderment in the spectacle of the beloved, I would not be struck speechless with wonder like a mirror.
3
Had the Prophet’s true glory to Abu Jahl been revealed, he would have felt no shame in embracing Islam.
If the true stature and glory of the Prophet had been revealed to Abu Jahl, he would not have felt any shame in embracing Islam.
4
Had they but known the hidden mysteries of Truth, between the seventy-two sects there would never be war.
If people were aware of the hidden secrets of ultimate truth, there would never be any war among the seventy-two sects.
5
To fathom Your true essence lies beyond the realm of possibility; / else this knowing heart of mine would never be so sorely distressed.
To fathom or reach the reality of your true essence is beyond all possibility; otherwise, my conscious and knowing heart would not be so constrained and distressed.
6
Had you not lifted from our eyes the veil of heedlessness, / O Love, supplication would never have struck against a stone.
O Love, had you not lifted the veil of heedlessness from us, Niyaz would never have ended up like a stone before you.
