तीर जो उस कमान से निकला

तीर जो उस कमान से निकला
जिगर मुर्ग़-ए-जान से निकला
The arrow that emerged from the bow,
Emerged from the heart, the beloved's life.

निकली थी तेग़ बे-दरेग़ उस की
मैं ही इक इम्तिहान से निकला
She had left, wandering aimlessly, without a path,
And I passed through an ordeal, a test, to emerge.
Her pride/confidence had departed without any support, and I was the one who emerged from an ordeal/test.

गो कटे सर कि सोज़-ए-दिल जों शम्अ'
अब तो मेरी ज़बान से निकला
Oh, the hair that is cut, or the burning pain of the heart,
Now has emerged from my tongue.

आगे ऐ नाला है ख़ुदा का नाँव
बस तो न आसमान से निकला
Before me is the channel, the name of God
It has only not emerged from the sky.
Literally, the couplet means that the channel (or path) before me is the name of God, and it has merely not emerged from the sky.

चश्म-ओ-दिल से जो निकला हिज्राँ में
न कभू बहर-ओ-कान से निकला
From the eye of the heart, which emerged in separation,
It never emerged from the ear of the ocean.

मर गया जो असीर-ए-क़ैद-ए-हयात
तंगना-ए-जहान से निकला
