किसी को दे के दिल कोई नवा-संज-ए-फ़ुग़ाँ क्यूँ हो
This ghazal expresses a disillusioned and defiant perspective on love. The poet questions the futility of lamenting after surrendering one's heart, asserting self-respect against an unyielding beloved and rejecting the betrayal of a confidant. It concludes with a cynical view of loyalty and love, challenging the beloved's authority.

न हो जब दिल ही सीने में तो फिर मुँह में ज़बाँ क्यूँ हो
Why should one lament, having given their heart away? If no heart resides within the chest, why should a tongue then sway?
Why should one lament or complain after giving their heart away? If there is no heart left in the chest, then why should there be a tongue in the mouth?

They won't abandon their nature, why should we forsake our grace? Why, light-headed, should we ask why they turn away their face?

What loyalty, what love, when to smash one's head is decreed? Then, O stone-hearted one, why only your threshold's stone indeed?
What loyalty or love is there when the ultimate fate is to smash one's head in despair? Then, O stone-hearted one, why should my head be smashed only at your threshold?
