Vo Zamana Nazar Nahin Aata
वो ज़माना नज़र नहीं आता

वो ज़माना नज़र नहीं आता
कुछ ठिकाना नज़र नहीं आता
That bygone era is nowhere in sight; no refuge, no trace remains in sight.
That past era is nowhere to be seen, and now no trace or resting place is visible anywhere.

जान जाती दिखाई देती है
उन का आना नज़र नहीं आता
I can clearly see my life departing now; yet their arrival remains nowhere in sight.

इश्क़ दर-पर्दा फूँकता है आग
ये जलाना नज़र नहीं आता
Behind the veil, love secretly stokes the flame; this consuming fire remains unseen.
Love secretly stokes a fire from behind the veil, and this burning remains unseen to everyone.

इक ज़माना मिरी नज़र में रहा
इक ज़माना नज़र नहीं आता
An entire era once dwelt before my eyes; now, for an age, nothing appears in sight.
An entire era once stayed before my eyes, but now for a long time nothing is in sight.

दिल ने इस बज़्म में बिठा तो दिया
उठ के जाना नज़र नहीं आता
My heart has made me take a seat in this gathering; yet rising to depart, I see no way.
My heart has made me sit in this gathering, but now I see no way of getting up and leaving.

रहिए मुश्ताक़-ए-जल्वा-ए-दीदार
हम ने माना नज़र नहीं आता
Remain ever longing for the splendor of the vision; I grant that it does not appear before our eyes.
Remain ever eager and longing to behold the beloved's vision, even though I concede that it does not appear before our eyes.

ले चलो मुझ को राह-रवान-ए-अदम
याँ ठिकाना नज़र नहीं आता
Take me along, O travellers bound for oblivion, / For here I see no refuge, no place to call my home.
O travelers on the path to non-existence (death), take me along with you, for I see no shelter or resting place for myself here in this world.

दिल पे बैठा कहाँ से तीर-ए-निगाह
ये निशाना नज़र नहीं आता
From where did the arrow of her glance strike the heart? / For neither the mark nor the target can be seen.
From where did the arrow of the glance hit the heart? This target or mark is nowhere to be seen.

तुम मिलाओगे ख़ाक में हम को
दिल मिलाना नज़र नहीं आता
You will surely mingle me with dust / Yet no joining of hearts is in sight
You will only reduce me to dust and ruin me, for there is no sign of our hearts ever coming together.

आप ही देखते हैं हम को तो
दिल का आना नज़र नहीं आता
You fix your gaze on me alone, yet the surrender of the heart remains unseen.
You only keep looking at me, yet you fail to notice that my heart has fallen in love with you.

दिल-ए-पुर-आरज़ू लुटा ऐ 'दाग़'
वो ख़ज़ाना नज़र नहीं आता
The heart brimmed with desire has been plundered, O Dagh; yet that treasure is nowhere to be seen.
O Dagh, the heart filled with desires has been plundered, but that treasure is nowhere to be seen now.
