Ghazal
This ghazal reflects on the beloved's self-absorption and indifference, as they remain captivated solely by their own beauty. Alongside this, the poet laments a hypercritical world that seeks out flaws rather than appreciating the art and grace of poetry.

Their gaze remains fixed only upon their own beauty's grace; they never lift their eyes to look upon another's face.
Their gaze is fixed solely upon their own beauty, and they never lift their eyes to look toward anyone else.

Why should my mind turn toward the art of poetry, when every eye is drawn only to its flaws?
Why should I turn my attention to the art of poetry, when everyone's gaze is directed only toward flaws?

When weeping is inscribed forever in my destiny, not even a stray thought ever turns toward laughter.
Since crying is written in my destiny, my thoughts never even turn toward laughter.

Those who catch a glimpse of even your shadow / Never raise their eyes to look upon a fairy.
Those who catch even a glimpse of your shadow never raise their eyes to look towards a fairy.

The heart gets trapped in torment, life is squandered in vain; may God lead no one's footsteps toward that cruel lane.
The heart gets trapped in affliction and life is lost for nothing; may God never lead anyone towards that street.

Whenever a dispute breaks out between the rival and me, / Behind the veil, deep in your heart, you secretly side with him.
Whenever an argument or dispute occurs between the rival and me, deep down and secretly you take his side.

The gaze of the entire assembly falls upon them alone, yet not toward a single soul do they lift their eyes.
The gaze of the entire gathering is fixed on them, but they do not raise their eyes to look at anyone.

The gaze of that self-adoring idol is fixed upon my heart; it turns neither toward the mirror, nor toward the thumb-ring's glass.
The gaze of that self-admiring beloved is fixed solely upon my heart, turning neither toward the mirror nor toward the glass of the thumb-ring.

For God's sake, accept this offering of the heart; cast not your gaze upon its brokenness.
For God's sake, please accept this gift of my heart, and do not look at its broken state.

This is the very gaze that now has turned the slayer of the world; this is the very gaze that once would never lift toward anyone.
This is the very same gaze that has now become the slayer of the entire world, whereas earlier it would not even lift toward anyone.

For God's sake, linger a brief moment in this humble dwelling of mine; after so many long days have your steps turned toward this lane.
For God's sake, please sit for a little while in my humble home, as you have come toward this street after so many days.
12
What harm could come if there is just a slight delay? Turn not your eyes toward the clock with every passing moment.
What harm is there if there is a slight delay? Do not look at the clock again and again.

If anyone at home should ask, what fear is there, just say: we had merely wandered off for a stroll towards someone's way.
If someone at home asks about it, there is no need to fear; just tell them that we had simply wandered off for a stroll towards someone.

Though a thousand charms of earthly beauties tempt you, O Akbar, keep your focus fixed steadfastly upon Him alone.
O Akbar, even if there are a thousand dazzling displays of the beauty of worldly idols, keep your focus directed solely toward Him.
