Yashoda Rocks Hari in the Cradle

The verses

Meaning: Mother Yashoda rocks infant Hari in his cradle; swaying, fondling, and caressing him gently, she sings whatever soft lullaby comes to her heart.

Meaning: O slumber, come unto my darling child, why do you not put him to sleep? / Why do you not hasten and arrive, when little Kanha himself calls for you?

Meaning: Now Hari closes his tender eyes, now his soft lips flutter and play; Believing Him asleep, she turns hushed and silent, and motions with her hands to keep them away.

Meaning: Meanwhile Hari grew restless and stirred, while Yashoda sang in sweet refrain; the joy rare even for gods and sages, Nanda's consort did obtain.
