1. दिल गए आफ़त आई जानों पर ये फ़साना रहा ज़बानों पर

   Meaning: My heart experienced calamity, my beloved, This tale remained on the tongues of people.

2. शहर के शोख़ सादा-रू लड़के ज़ुल्म करते हैं क्या जवानों पर

   Meaning: Do the city's charming, simple-looking boys Commit such atrocities against the youth?

3. ग़म ओ ग़ुस्सा है हिस्से में मेरे अब म'ईशत है उन ही खानों पर

   Meaning: Grief and anger are parts of me, Now my livelihood depends on those very sources.

4. क़िस्से दुनिया में 'मीर' बहुत सुने न रखो गोश उन फ़सानों पर

   Meaning: In the tales of the world, 'Mir' has heard many stories, Do not keep your goat on those fables.
