Yesterday, we witnessed spring in full splendor within the tavern; from the laughter of that beloved, a sweet tumult stirred the tavern.
Yesterday we saw a splendid spring in the tavern, as the laughter of that beloved had caused a great stir and joy there.

Stirred to such frenzy by wine's heady surge were the scars upon my heart, as though peacocks were leaping in dance within the tavern.
Under the intoxicating surge of wine, the wounds of my heart were stirred into such tumult, as though peacocks were leaping and dancing in a tavern.

I had laid a snare in hope that fairy-faced beauty might see, and the tavern's circling wine-cup turn its round toward me.
I had laid a trap hoping that perhaps that fairy-faced beloved would see it and come near me as the wine cup made its rounds in the tavern.
4
It is my heart's desire that the moon-faced one be my companion, who pours me wine from dusk until dawn breaks in the tavern.
My desire is that the moon-faced beloved becomes my companion and serves me wine from evening until dawn breaks in the tavern.
5
He alone is my true cupbearer, O Naji, who if I die, will make my resting grave right within the tavern.
O Naji, my true cupbearer is only the one who, if I die, makes a place for my grave inside the tavern.
