बिदअ'त मस्नून हो गई है

बिदअ'त मस्नून हो गई है
उम्मत मतऊन हो गई है
Heresy has been sanctified as tradition now, and the community of faith is cursed and reviled somehow.

क्या कहना तिरी दुआ का ज़ाहिद
गर्दूं का सुतून हो गई है
What praise can be sung of your prayer, O ascetic! / It has turned into a pillar upholding the sky.
O ascetic, what can be said in praise of your prayer! It has risen to become a pillar supporting the sky.

रहने दो अजल जो घात में है
मुझ पर मफ़्तून हो गई है
Let Death remain waiting in ambush, leave her be; she has grown utterly enamored with me.

हसरत को ग़ुबार-ए-दिल में ढूँडो
ज़िंदा मदफ़ून हो गई है
Search for longing in the dust of the heart; it has been buried alive.

वहशत का था नाम अव्वल अव्वल
अब तो वो जुनून हो गई है
At first it went by the name of a wild unrest, / but now it has turned into an all-consuming madness.
Initially, it was merely called wild unrest or loneliness, but now it has intensified into full-blown madness.

वाइज़ ने बुरी नज़र से देखा
मय शीशे में ख़ून हो गई है
The preacher cast such a baleful gaze,
The wine turned to blood within the glass.

आरिज़ के क़रीन गुलाब का फूल
हम-रंग की दून हो गई है
Placed beside her radiant cheek, a fresh rose rests in grace; / Twofold now has grown the charm of their matching hue's embrace.
With the rose placed next to the cheek, the beauty of their matching color has now doubled.

बंदा हूँ तिरा ज़बान-ए-शीरीं
दुनिया मम्नून हो गई है
I am your devoted servant, O sweet-tongued one; the whole world stands beholden to your grace.
O sweet-spoken one, I am your servant, and the entire world has become grateful and indebted to you.

'हैदर' शब-ए-ग़म में मर्ग-ए-नागाह
शादी का शुगून हो गई है
In this dark night of sorrow, O Haidar, sudden death / Has become an auspicious omen of celebration.
