Ghazal
न गया ख़याल-ए-ज़ुल्फ़-ए-सियह जफ़ा-शआराँ
The ghazal revolves around the persistent memory of the beloved's dark, curly hair, a thought that remains even after the night's festivities end. The poet addresses the beloved, noting that he never claimed her tresses would loosen, and that his restless heart never left. The verses reflect the transient nature of joy and sorrow, and the changing nature of worldly attire. Ultimately, the poem concludes with a powerful statement: everything is in danger due to the poet's sighs and tears, suggesting a recurring vulnerability in the world.

न गया ख़याल-ए-ज़ुल्फ़-ए-सियह जफ़ा-शआराँ
न हुआ कि सुब्ह होवे शब-ए-तीरा रोज़गाराँ
The thought of your dark tresses, O poet of cruelty, did not cease,
Nor did the night turn into morning, O wanderer of days.
The thought of your dark tresses, O cruel poet, did not cease, nor did the night turn into morning, O wanderer of days.

न कहा था ऐ रफ़ूगर तिरे टाँके होंगे ढीले
न सिया गया ये आख़िर दिल-ए-चाक-ए-बे-क़राराँ
I never told you that your stitches would be loose,
Nor did I say this heart is a heart of uncertainty.
I never said that your stitches would be loose, nor did I say that this heart is a heart of uncertainty.

Everyone wore the garments of joy and happiness, but we did not change into this attire of the wanderers.

In my sighs and tears, there lies a great danger to all,
For the world has remained just as it was, after the wind and the storm.
In my sighs and tears, there lies a great danger to all, for the world has remained just as it was, even after the wind and the storm.

Do not give the breeze a movement that disturbs the dust of her corpse,
For this earth is filled with the hearts and forms of the living.

किसी ने भी यूँ न पूछा हुए ख़ाक याँ हज़ाराँ
From where you lifted your heart, neither are there customs of pain,
No one has ever asked, oh dust, or oh thousands.
Shayar, from where did you lift your heart? Are there any customs of pain? No one has ever asked (oh dust) or (oh thousands) like this.

This hiding of life from the spring will be my declaration,
That without me, the garden of love will be sorrowful.
This concealment of life from the spring will be my declaration, that without me, the garden of love will be sorrowful.

We had heard, 'Mir,' that a tale of dreams had arrived,
But after hearing your memory, it was just a dream, my friend.
