Ghazal
Dil Mein Bhara Z-bas-ki Khayal-e-sharab Tha
The ghazal speaks of the heart being filled only with the thought of wine (or intoxication), and the mind's house being filled with water. The speaker advises the beloved to continue reveling in the world's waves, because after death, everything will appear like a bubble. Ultimately, the poem suggests that all this worldly existence is fleeting and merely a dream.

In my heart, there was only the thought of wine,
As if in the mirror of my home, there was water.
In my heart, there was only the thought of wine, as if there was water in the mirror of my home.

In the ocean of the world, you are still enjoying yourself, O beloved,
But after death, you will know that everything was merely froth.
You are still enjoying yourself in the ocean of the world, but after death, you will realize that everything was merely froth.

The hand of the nightingale and the sleeve of the rose garden's blossoms,
Were merely a sample of the Day of Judgment's reckoning.
The things emerging from the nightingale's hand and the rose garden's sleeve were merely a sample of the Day of Judgment's reckoning.
4
Open your eyes and see the desires of that moment,
The moment when you realize that even this world was a dream.
Open your eyes and see the desires of that moment, the moment when you realize that even this world was a dream.

If my heart were not so deeply attached to you, O Meer,
There would be no wait, nor the restless anxiety I feel.
If my heart were not so deeply attached to you, there would be no waiting, nor the restless anxiety I feel.
