Ghazal

Kasrat-e-daagh Se Dil Rashk-e-gulistan Na Hua / Mera Dil Khwah Jo

कसरत-ए-दाग़ से दिल रश्क-ए-गुलिस्ताँ न हुआ

Mir Taqi Mir· Ghazal· 8 shers

In this ghazal, the poet states that excessive suffering (daagh) did not breed envy of the garden in his heart, and what his heart desired never came true. He mentions making many sacrifices for the beloved, but the beloved remained unaffected. The poet also suggests that his sighs did not yield the wealth of the underworld, and his tears did not create a storm. Finally, he concludes that worldly attention failed to grant him any wealth or status.
