Who can take away the pride of fatal charm? If he leaves, to whom should that lifeless Sayyid be entrusted?

This poignant couplet by Mir Taqi Mir captures the pain of unbearable vanity. The poet asks, 'If someone asks for the deadly pride (ghuroor-e-naaz-e-qatil), what should I do with it?' He then asks, 'When I leave, to whose care should I entrust that lifeless 'Sayyed'?'
