Ghazal
ahadiyyat ka jab wurood hua
This ghazal delves into Sufi metaphysics and the philosophy of Wahdat al-Wujud (Unity of Existence). It contemplatively traces the cosmic descent of the absolute Divine Essence (Ahadiyyat) through stages of manifestation, culminating in the existence of the Creator and creation.

अहदिय्यत का जब वुरूद हुआ
नूर-ए-वहदत का तब शुहूद हुआ
When the realm of Absolute Oneness made its descent, the radiant light of Unity stood witnessed and evident.
When Absolute Oneness manifested and descended, the light of divine unity became witnessed and visibly apparent.

वाहिदिय्यत हुई नमूद इस पर
ख़ालिक़-ओ-ख़ल्क़ का वजूद हुआ
As Unity unveiled itself to sight, Creator and creation came to light.
When the stage of Oneness (Wahidiyyat) became manifest, the existence of both the Creator and the creation came to be.

आलम-ए-अरवाह का हुआ पैदा
शुक्र-ए-हस्ती हुआ सुजूद हुआ
When the realm of spirits was brought to being, thanksgiving for existence was offered, and prostration was made.
When the world of souls was brought into existence, gratitude was expressed for being given life, and prostration was offered.

बाद इस के मिसाल का आलम
इस पे अज्साम फिर फ़ज़ूद हुआ
Thereafter arose the imaginal realm of similitudes, / Upon which the world of physical bodies was then bestowed.
After this, the realm of similitudes (forms) came into being, and upon it the world of physical bodies was further added.

इतने पर्दे जो ज़ात ने पहने
कोई मोमिन कोई यहूद हुआ
Behind so many veils did the Divine Essence reside, that one turned believer, another a Jew beside.
Because the Divine Essence concealed Itself behind so many veils, differences arose among people, leading one to become a believer and another a Jew.

नूर-ए-अहमद ने जब तजल्ली की
सर-ब-सर ख़ल्क़ कूँ ये सूद हुआ
When the Light of Ahmad shone forth in divine display, to all of creation, this boundless blessing made its way.
When the light of Ahmad manifested, the entire creation fully received this immense benefit.

इश्क़ आशिक़ हुआ इसी कूँ देख
दिल-ए-नादाँ ब-रंग-ए-ऊद हुआ
Beholding this, Love itself turned into a lover; while this foolish heart smoldered fragrant like agarwood.
Upon seeing that, love itself became an impassioned lover, and the foolish heart began to burn like fragrant agarwood.
