अब तो ये भी नहीं रहा एहसास

अब तो ये भी नहीं रहा एहसास
दर्द होता है या नहीं होता
Even this awareness has faded away: whether there is pain, or pain no more.
Now even this awareness is no longer left, whether pain is felt or not.

इश्क़ जब तक न कर चुके रुस्वा
आदमी काम का नहीं होता
Until by love thoroughly disgraced and undone, a man is of no real worth to anyone.
Until love thoroughly disgraces and humiliates a person, they do not become capable or worthy of anything.

टूट पड़ता है दफ़अ'तन जो इश्क़
बेश-तर देर-पा नहीं होता
The love that strikes all at once with sudden might, is seldom destined to endure the test of time.
The love that strikes suddenly and all at once is usually not long-lasting.

वो भी होता है एक वक़्त कि जब
मा-सिवा मा-सिवा नहीं होता
There comes a moment, too, when what is other remains the other no more.
There also comes a time when everything other than the Divine or the Beloved ceases to be separate or other.

हाए क्या हो गया तबीअ'त को
ग़म भी राहत-फ़ज़ा नहीं होता
Alas, what has come over this disposition of mine? Even sorrow brings no soothing solace now.
Alas, what has happened to my disposition; now even sorrow no longer brings any sense of comfort or relief.

दिल हमारा है या तुम्हारा है
हम से ये फ़ैसला नहीं होता
Whether this heart is mine, or it belongs to you / This is a decision I simply cannot make.
I am unable to decide whether this heart is mine or it belongs to you.

जिस पे तेरी नज़र नहीं होती
उस की जानिब ख़ुदा नहीं होता
The one upon whom your gaze does not fall, even God does not turn towards them at all.
The person upon whom your gaze or favor does not fall, even God does not turn His attention toward them.

मैं कि बे-ज़ार उम्र भर के लिए
दिल कि दम-भर जुदा नहीं होता
I, who am weary of life for a whole lifetime long; this heart, which will not part even for a single breath.
I have become weary of life for an entire lifetime, yet this heart does not part even for a single breath.

वो हमारे क़रीब होते हैं
जब हमारा पता नहीं होता
They are closest unto us, when of our own selves there is no trace.
They are close to us at the very moment when there is no trace of our own whereabouts or existence.

दिल को क्या क्या सुकून होता है
जब कोई आसरा नहीं होता
What wondrous peace the heart attains, when not a single hope remains.
The heart feels a profound sense of peace and relief when there is no longer any hope or support left to rely upon.

हो के इक बार सामना उन से
फिर कभी सामना नहीं होता
Having come face to face with them just once, never again does such an encounter take place.
Once an encounter takes place with them, a face-to-face meeting never happens again.
