Ghazal
This ghazal explores the paradoxes of fate and the complexities of human relationships. The poet reflects on his own misfortune ('kam-nascbi') as linked to an unknown 'magic' or favor, describing a life caught in a state of perpetual transition where existence has no fixed location. It is a profound meditation on love, deception, and the tangled web of human experience.

The misfortune that is mine, the lack of grace that is yours,
My efforts found no success, this wonder of your favor.
The misfortune that is mine, the lack of grace that is yours; my efforts found no success, this wonder of your favor.

Where am I, and where are you? Is this house, or is it not a house? Is this world mine, or is it by your grace?
Where am I and where are you? Is this a house, or is it not a house? Is this world mine, or is it by your grace?
3
In this dilemma, the nights of my life passed,
Sometimes the burning passion of 'Rumi', sometimes the intricate charm of 'Razi'.
In this dilemma, the nights of my life passed, sometimes the burning passion of 'Rumi', and sometimes the intricate charm of 'Razi'.

That deceptive, royal nature, which is hidden in the depths of the heart,
How can it know what the traditions and customs of true nobility are?
That deceptive, royal nature, which is hidden in the depths of the heart, how can it know what the traditions and customs of true nobility are?

Neither the tongue is a ghazal's tongue, nor is it aware from the tongue,
Whether it be Azmi's sweet voice, or a fresh, new sound.
Neither is the tongue a ghazal's tongue, nor is it aware from the tongue; whether it be Azmi's sweet voice, or a fresh, new sound.
6
There is no distinction in poverty or royalty,
It is the sword-play of the soldier, the sword-play of the gaze.
There is no distinction between poverty and royalty; it is the sword-play of the soldier and the sword-play of the gaze.
7
Some caravan broken, some from the illusionary harem; that the prince of the caravan does not possess the charm of the heart.
Some caravans have broken, some have broken from an illusionary harem; for the prince of the caravan does not possess the charm of the heart.
