Ghazal

ग़ैर लें महफ़िल में बोसे जाम के

Mirza Ghalib· Ghazal· 7 shers· radif: के

This ghazal captures the bitter pangs of longing and jealousy as the poet watches rivals enjoy the beloved's favor while he remains thirsty even for a word. It blends personal despair with philosophical resignation, attributing one's broken state to the cruel machinations of fate rather than blaming the beloved.

Did your eyes ensnare my heart? But then, they too are merely rings within the snare you have laid.
