The very moment I resolve to reach your home, I shall arrive; though the journey take a lifetime's course, in a single breath I shall arrive.
The moment we resolve to visit your home, we shall arrive; even if the journey spans an entire lifetime, we will complete it in a single breath.

If I am slaughtered by the hands of that sweet-mannered beloved, sips of sweet nectar will flow from the dagger's gleaming blade.
If we are slaughtered by the hands of that sweet-mannered beloved, then the sharp edge of the dagger will taste like sips of sherbet to us.

If such remains this surge of tears, then swept along their tide, / A thousand shattered fragments of my heart will fill my weeping eyes.
If this surge of weeping continues, thousands of pieces of my heart will flow with my tears and appear in my moist eyes.
4
Should we escape this prison of calamity this time, never again / Shall we fall into the deceitful snare of that ravishing plunderer.
If we manage to escape from this prison of calamity this time, we will never again fall into the deceitful trap of that charming plunderer.
5
I would have perished rather than gone, had I only known / That I would find myself so distressed in the beloved's lane.
Had I known beforehand that I would become so distressed upon entering the beloved's lane, I would have chosen death rather than going there.
6
With collars torn at the hands of that sun-faced beloved, / like the dawn of Doomsday, millions shall rise upon the plains of Judgment.
Millions of lovers, with their collars torn by that sun-faced beloved, will arrive on the plains of Judgment Day just like the dawn of Doomsday.
7
Should your mad lovers display the dizzying whirl of their wandering, into what a helpless spin the desert whirlwinds would be thrown!
If your mad lovers were to display their frantic wandering and dizzying pace, even the whirlwinds of the desert would be thrown into a helpless spin.
8
O Zafar, if the cupbearer's gaze reveals its wondrous spell, the spectacles of Jamshid’s cup within this glass shall dwell.
Zafar says that if the cupbearer's eyes reveal their miracle, all the wondrous spectacles of Jamshid's magical cup will be visible right within the wine goblet.
