कभी ऐ हक़ीक़त-ए-मुंतज़र नज़र आ लिबास-ए-मजाज़ में

The verses

1. कभी ऐ हक़ीक़त-ए-मुंतज़र नज़र आ लिबास-ए-मजाज़ में कि हज़ारों सज्दे तड़प रहे हैं मिरी जबीन-ए-नियाज़ में

   Meaning: Oh, if the truth I long for could appear in a guise, a mere illusion, For countless prostrations are yearning in the plea of my life.

2. इस दुनिया में मुझे कहीं भी शरण नहीं मिली, और अगर मिली तो कहाँ मिली? घर बर्बाद कारने वाले गुनाहों को माफ़ी का सहारा बस तेरी ईश्वरीय रहमत में मिला

   Meaning: In this world, I found no refuge anywhere, and even if I found it, where did I find it? Only in your divine mercy did I find the support for the sins that destroyed my home.

3. जो मैं सर-ब-सज्दा हुआ कभी तो ज़मीं से आने लगी सदा तिरा दिल तो है सनम-आश्ना तुझे क्या मिलेगा नमाज़ में

   Meaning: If I ever became a decorated crown, a song would emerge from the earth's floor; but your heart, beloved, is already familiar to me, what will you find in prayer?

4. जब मैंने सज्दा के लिये सर झुकाया तो ज़मीन से एक आवाज़ आने लगी तेरा दिल तो बुतों के प्रेम ही परिचित है, तुझे नमाज़ से क्या मिलेगा?

   Meaning: When I bowed my head for prostration, a voice began to emanate from the earth. 'Your heart is only familiar with the love of idols; what will you gain from namaz (prayer)?'
