आँखें मुझे तलवों से वो मलने नहीं देते

The verses

1. आँखें मुझे तलवों से वो मलने नहीं देते अरमान मिरे दिल के निकलने नहीं देते

   Meaning: She does not let me press my eyes against her soles, nor let the deep yearnings of my heart find release.

2. परवानों ने फ़ानूस को देखा तो ये बोले क्यूँ हम को जलाते हो कि जलने नहीं देते

   Meaning: Seeing the glass lantern, the moths cried out: Why torment us with longing, yet never let us burn?

3. दिल वो है कि फ़रियाद से लबरेज़ है हर वक़्त हम वो हैं कि कुछ मुँह से निकलने नहीं देते

   Meaning: The heart is such, it brims with cries at every hour; yet such am I, I let no whisper escape my lips.

4. गर्मी-ए-मोहब्बत में वो हैं आह से माने' पंखा नफ़स-ए-सर्द का झलने नहीं देते

   Meaning: In the burning heat of love, my beloved forbids me to sigh / Refusing to let me fan myself with the cool breeze of a breath.
