Ghazal
Talwar Garkh-e-khoon Hain Aankhen Gulabiyan Hain
This ghazal explores the intense and complex emotions of love, contrasting the softness of rose-colored eyes with the sharpness of a 'bloody sword.' It depicts the contradictions, bold gestures, and emotional instability inherent in love. The poet suggests that his mischievousness and freedom remain intact while masked, and that life will be greatly 'spoiled' without the beloved.

My eyes are swords, stained with blood, and my eyes are roses;
When will these intoxicating moods of yours cease to be seen?
My eyes are like swords stained with blood, and also like roses; when will these intoxicating moods of yours cease to be seen?

When you draw the veil over your face, then look and see what wonders there are; what coquettishness and what unbound natures are.
When you cover your face with a veil, then look and see what wonders are there; what coquettishness and what unbound natures are.

Whether today I am above the seven skies,
How much coolness resides even in the mood of the heart.
Whether today I am above the seven skies, there is still so much coolness/calmness in the disposition of the heart.

Oh, my heart is scattered, my head has fallen down,
Without you, what flaws and faults abound.
Oh, my heart is scattered, my head has fallen down; without you, what flaws and faults abound.

Oh Meer, never become a guest upon the tavern of the sky; these two chambers of love and affection are empty.
Oh Meer, never become a guest at the tavern of the sky; these two chambers of love and affection are empty.
