Galat Tha Aap Se Ghaafil Guzarna — Mir Taqi Mir
ग़लत था आप से ग़ाफ़िल गुज़रना
न समझे हम कि इस क़ालिब में तू था
— Mir Taqi Mir
Meaning
It was wrong to pass by you carelessly; I didn't realize that you resided within this mold.
Explanation
This profound couplet captures the regret of a lover who passes by the beloved's presence carelessly. The poet says that it was a mistake to walk past without realizing the depth of the connection. We failed to understand that the person we saw was not just a person, but something divine or profoundly significant. It speaks to the fleeting nature of beauty and the pain of missed realization.
