O 'Ishq (love), do not ask about the condition of my heart, for the house of the Haram (sacred place) has become the house of the idol. Literally, the lover says that his heart, which was once a sacred place, has been corrupted and turned into an object of worship (an idol).

This couplet is a profound commentary on the corruption of love and devotion. Mir Taqi Mir tells us not to question his love, especially from the perspective of a non-believer, because the very concept of sacred devotion has been lost. He uses the powerful imagery of the Kaaba (the House of the Sacred) having devolved into a mere idol-worshiping structure. It speaks to the painful realization that even the purest form of devotion can be corrupted by time or misplaced desire.
