Ghazal
Ek Parwaz Ko Bhi Rukhsat-e-sayyad Nahin
This ghazal suggests that even a flight (or effort) cannot be compared to the departure of the beloved (Saiyaad), because this cage (Kunj-e-Qafas) is not made of gold or steel. The poet asserts that even if he reaches the depths of sorrow (Tah-e-Khak), this world is too free to be merely called an 'invention' (Ijaad). Finally, he states that while he can ask forgiveness from the beloved for his departure, the strength of his anguish (Farayad) cannot be dismissed lightly.

Even a departure like a poet's departure is not possible
For this grove-cage is not adorned with gold.
Even a departure like a poet's departure is not possible, because this grove-cage is not adorned with gold.

The master of solitude will reach even beneath the dust,
For wandering is free, this is not the world of creation.

Though I leave my beloved with Sayyad, but
From Zauf, I have no strength of lamentation.

Why do you keep even an excuse, O Sheikh, within your heart? / This cup-drinker is not worthy of your guidance.
O Sheikh, why do you keep even an excuse within your heart? Understand that this cup-drinker is not worthy of your guidance.

He is the same in his unadorned state, and the same with the milk-white lion; but for Farhad, he was not the salt of the sweetness of fame.

What should I say, 'Mir'? They have forgotten you; I barely remembered you, but you do not remember me.
