My sleep is lost due to the troubles' tales,
You too, just listen to these stories for one night.
My sleep is lost due to the tales of troubles; you too, listen to these stories for one night.

What fire has given the form of logic and reasoning?
Those are the verses of mischief of that flame.
What fire has given the form of logic and reasoning? Those are the verses of mischief of that flame.

How he kept company with the grace of Safiya and Zalal,
My heart bled, oh, my little jewel-like heart.
How he kept company with the grace of Safiya and Zalal, my little jewel-like heart bled.

From us, countless charms and airs have departed,
These cruel neglects, these undeserved graces.
Countless charms and airs have departed from us, these cruel neglects and these undeserved graces.

Beneath the sword's shadow, the covenant of decline was spent; / Dying little by little, we have cut our youth away.
Beneath the sword, the covenant of decline was lost; little by little, we have spent our youth.

Do not speak to me of anything but abuse; I like your bad-tongued words.
Do not speak to me of anything but abuse; I like your bad-tongued words.

To the whispers of strangers, my beloved's ear was inclined;
But this letter of 'Na' and 'Shin' did not heed our plea.
My beloved's ear was inclined toward the whispers of strangers, but this letter of 'Na' and 'Shin' did not listen to our plea.

These restless nights, these never-seen dawns,
Our lives have endured many such experiences.
Our lives have endured many such restless nights and never-seen dawns (experiences).

Oh, they have mixed me, too, among strangers, O Mir,
What kind of dust have they mixed my soul's unique identity with?
The poet says that they have mixed him, too, among strangers. He asks what kind of dust they have mixed his soul's unique identity with.
