Had the vision been deferred until tomorrow, this tempest would not rage within my eyes today.
If seeing each other had been postponed until tomorrow, there would not have been this storm of tears in my eyes today.

Were my heart not set upon a journey forth, / It would not wail in the manner of the caravan's bell.
If my heart did not have the resolve to embark on a journey, it would not be lamenting in the manner of a caravan bell.

Why would anyone prostrate before them in devotion, had the Divine not been concealed within the idols?
Why would anyone bow in prostration before idols if the Divine Truth were not concealed within them?
4
These tears would surely have drowned the homes of mankind, / Were it not for this corner of my robe.
If it were not for this corner of my robe, these tears would have drowned the homes of mankind.
5
Were beauty not endowed with such attraction, friends, the pain of love would never be so easy to bear.
Friends, if beauty did not have the power of attraction, the pain of love would not have been easy to bear.
