Ghazal
Jahan Tera Naqsh-e-qadam Dekhte HainKhayaban Khayaban Iram Dekhte Hain
This ghazal vividly portrays the profound impact of the beloved's presence and beauty. The lover perceives paradise wherever the beloved's footprints fall, and their majestic stature makes even doomsday's trials seem trivial. Despite the beloved's self-admiration, the lover gazes upon them with immense longing and devotion.

Wherever your foot's imprint we behold,Garden after garden, paradise unfolds.
Wherever we see your footprints, we perceive paradise blooming in every garden.

The hearts distraught for the mole by the mouth's corner,Within their deepest core, envision a journey to oblivion.
Those whose hearts are restless for the mole at the corner of the mouth, within their innermost being, envision a journey to oblivion.

From your cypress-like stature, a human's full height,We see Doomsday's chaos in a lesser light.
Your tall, graceful form, like a cypress and a full human stature, makes us perceive the turmoil and chaos of Doomsday as less severe.

What a spectacle, O lost in mirror-gazing,
With what longing do we behold you?
It's a spectacle that, O you who are engrossed in mirror-gazing, we behold you with such intense longing.

Seek the lament's fiery trace from the heart's deep scar, As we observe the night-traveler's footprints, wherever they are.
Look for the burning trace of the lament from the scar on the heart, just as one observes the footprints left by a night-traveler.

Assuming the guise of fakirs, O Ghalib, we
Observe the spectacle of generosity.
O Ghalib, by assuming the guise of fakirs, we observe the spectacle of generous people.

Rarely do we find one walking their own solitary path, For even the deer, we see, is bound by its flight.
We rarely see anyone choosing their own path of their own accord, for we see even the deer bound by its instinctive flight.

The heart's fragmented letter, we see entirely written with one pen,We behold the eyelashes, as if inscribing with jewels.
We observe the letter of the fragmented heart as if it were written entirely with one pen. We see the eyelashes as if they are inscribing with jewels.
