Ghazal
Ummid TuuTi Hui Hai Meri Jo Dil Mira Tha Vo Mar Chuka Hai
This ghazal captures profound despair and emotional numbness caused by shattered hopes and unbearable life trials. Although physical breath remains, the poet feels that their heart and spirit are already dead, leaving them resignedly awaiting death's final arrival.

My hope lies shattered, and the heart that once was mine has died; that trial which turns all life to gall has already passed me by.
My hope is shattered and the heart that was once mine has died; the time that turns life bitter has already passed over me.

Though breath still lingers in the chest, no spark of life remains within; Death awaits but a single glance, the heavens have already done their deed.
Although breath still lingers in the chest, no life remains within the spirit; death waits only for a single glance, as the heavens have already done their deed.

This gloom and ruin of my humble dwelling are not from times long past; cheer and bustle once thrived here too, this home too was once adorned.
The sadness and disrepair of this humble house are not from ancient times. There was once hustle and bustle here too, and this home too was once well-adorned.

This chest, where only scars now dwell, was once a treasure-house of joy; that heart, once brimming with desire, has found its resting place at last.
This chest, which now only bears scars, was once a treasury of joys, and that heart, once brimming with desires, has now quietly come to rest.

Let someone go and tell the preacher: why frighten poor Akbar with death? Why threaten him with mortal dread, who is already terrified of life itself?
Someone should tell the preacher not to frighten poor Akbar with thoughts of death, as he is already terrified of life itself.
