In Urdu poetry, 'sahari' is an adjective denoting that which belongs to or occurs at dawn. It most famously forms part of the compound 'charagh-e-sahari' (the morning lamp), symbolizing a life nearing its end, fleeting existence, or utmost vulnerability. In Mir's couplet, it represents the dying lover whose breaths are counted like a flickering lamp at daybreak.
