In Urdu grammar, 'bahai' is the feminine past-tense transitive form of the verb 'bahana' (to cause to flow). In this couplet, it describes the lover making a stream of blood ('ju-e-khoon', feminine) flow at the base of every thorn in the desert. It conveys the sheer excess of suffering and endless sacrifice endured without attaining inner solace.
