In Persian and classical Urdu poetry, 'bara' (functioning with the izafat as 'bara-e') means 'for' or 'for the sake of'. In this couplet by Ghalib, it appears in the urgent invocation 'bara-e-khuda' (for God's sake), imploring the indifferent beloved to arrive during the speaker's final death throes.
