In classical Urdu poetics, 'bura' denotes moral wrongdoing, malice, or slander. In this couplet by Ghalib, it refers both to abusive speech ('bura kahe') and harmful conduct ('bura kare'). The poet advocates stoic forbearance, advising one to neither listen to malice nor respond to wrongful deeds.
