In Urdu and Persian poetry, 'payām' denotes a message, news, or communication—most famously the secret or longing-filled messages exchanged between the lover and the beloved through a messenger (qasid) or the morning breeze (saba). It is also used philosophically for divine tidings, awakening calls, or warnings of fate/death (payām-e-ajal).
