Word Meaning
क़िबला-नुमा
qibla-numā
Meaning
A compass pointing toward the Kaaba; an indicator pointing toward God.
Detailed Meaning
Literally, a 'qibla-numa' is a compass or navigational instrument designed to show the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca for prayer. In classical poetry and mystical philosophy, as in this couplet, it serves as a metaphor showing that the physical Qibla is not itself the divine object of worship, but merely an outward signpost directing humanity toward the transcendent God.
Etymology
Compound of Arabic 'qiblah' (direction faced in prayer) and Persian 'numā' (agentive suffix from 'numūdan', meaning to show or point out).
Usage
In Urdu poetry, it is frequently invoked in Sufistic contexts to contrast external, formal religious symbols with direct spiritual perception of the Divine.
Examples

In the journey of love, the longing heart is the only compass
