Word Meaning
उक़्दा-कुशा
uqda-kushā
Meaning
Untier of knots; a resolver of perplexities or difficulties.
Detailed Meaning
A Persian-Arabic compound combining 'uqda' (knot or problem) and 'kusha' (opener or solver). In this couplet, thorns of the desert are personified as solvers of difficulties because they pierce the blistered feet of the wandering lover, relieving the pressure of his walking afflictions. It presents pain itself as paradoxical salvation.
Etymology
Compound of Arabic 'uqdah' (عقدة - knot, complication) and Persian 'kushā' (کشا, present stem of kushūdan - to open, unbind).
Usage
In classical Urdu ghazals, it is frequently used as an epithet for divine aid, a spiritual benefactor, or poetically for an agent of pain that brings unexpected release.
