संग्रह 71-80

The verses

1. जब लग नाता जगत का , तब लग भक्ति न होय। नाता तोड़े हरि भजे , भगत कहावें सोय॥

   Meaning: While the world's bonds exist, devotion is absent; when Hari breaks the bonds, which devotees will remain?

2. जल ज्यों प्यारा माहरी , लोभी प्यारा दाम। माता प्यारा बारका , भगति प्यारा नाम॥

   Meaning: Like the lovely water, the dear wealth, the mother's dear cradle, and the sweet name of devotion.

3. दिल का मरहम ना मिला , जो मिला सो गर्जी। कह कबीर आसमान फटा , क्योंकर सीवे दर्जी॥

   Meaning: I found no balm for my heart; what I found was a roar. Kabir said, 'The sky has ripped open; why does the tailor try to stitch it?'

4. बानी से पह्चानिये , साम चोर की घात। अन्दर की करनी से सब , निकले मुँह कई बात॥

   Meaning: By speech, you can recognize the thief's deceit, but from inner deeds, all many things emerge.

5. जब लगि भगति सकाम है , तब लग निष्फल सेव। कह कबीर वह क्यों मिले , निष्कामी तज देव॥

   Meaning: While devotion is for selfish motives, it is useless; O Kabir says, why seek it, abandon the gods.
